Transforming English Language Practice Through Media Simulation
As the lead organiser for this major practicum project, I was responsible for the end-to-end execution of an innovative English-speaking booth at SMK Seksyen 9's Karnival Akademik. The challenge was to engage 400 students from Forms 1-4 in a meaningful public speaking activity within a single day.
I designed the "Stand Upper Challenge," a duo news reporting simulation that utilised a professional setup including a green screen, teleprompter, and OBS software for live broadcasting effects. After five weeks of planning and collaboration with the English Panel, the event was successfully delivered, with students practising pronunciation, intonation, and pacing in an authentic, low-pressure environment.
Post-event, I produced a polished highlights video, overcoming technical challenges like corrupted footage. The project was praised for its creativity and effectiveness, leading to discussions about its potential as an annual school event. This project honed my skills in technical production, logistics management, and creative curriculum design.
